Rural Pierce and Thurston County Officals Neglect Road Safety: Vail 507 Round-A-Bout & the Deadly Centralia Canal

Initially, I believed the Yelm Stage II Loop to run in front of the Pines.  Turns out, its completely different than I had imagined.  I thought we might enjoy a sidewalk from near Country Joes, where I had envisioned the loop in 2018. But nooo, this is NOT the area of the planned Yelm Stage II Loop, although it is close! Here are two posts from 2018 & 2020 concerning the sidewalk project I envisioned to join our four subdivisions to the North side of our Yelm Tenino Trail creating a more walkable community!

In 2018 a tragedy occurred and two young men lost their lives in the Canal. There are many such stories of death here.  There is one survival story that you can Google. Even a story from our Fire Dept. Chief King, who jumped into the Canal to save someone. Trust me, if you've heard him relay the story it is HORRIFYING! Equally horrifying is that Thurston County, City of Yelm and Pierce County would neglect rural safety!  Recently, February 28th, we've heard rumors that ANOTHER car (a white car) and person was found in the canal. I hope those are just rumors.

The Yelm Stage II Loop according to the Nisqually Valley News, will have a round-a-bout at 103rd. You can see those two orange round-a-bout circles.  The bright PINK round-a-about circle is where we've always said a round-a-bout needed to be put in place.  UMPTEEN YEARS we've stated it.

Yelm Stage II Loop is close to "beginning to finish", but not good enough.

The cross county Pierce-Thurston & Thurston Pierce traffic is NOT going to be protected from entering the Canal and the dangerous hill and corner at VAIL RD deserve a round-a-bout plan too.

Look at the flimsy fence and tell me about Safety again. They can put up a "WSDOT traffic camera" at McKenna, but they can't protect rural drivers with a cement barrier and a round-a-bout.  I'd like a word.
